**UPDATE! Bianca was adopted by a great guy. I liked to describe her as a Daddy’s Girl and that’s exactly what she got. She is now the apple of her Daddy’s eye.
Bianca was found on the streets of Los Angeles hungry, pregnant, dirty and scared. Luckily a friend of LAAR.org was able to catch her and get her to us. Bianca was not ready to be a teen mom so we helped her out and now she is enjoying her new dog friends and her foster family. She is very sweet and great with other dogs. She enjoys chasing squirrels and playing tag.
Bodhi was at a dead-end. He was in a foster situation that was not capable of giving him the attention and exercise that a dog like him needs. Lucky for Bodhi he met Steve Barker and they made a connection. Steve has been building a strong relationship with Bodhi and he is showing amazing progress. Bodhi was frustrated, wound tight, tense, too excitable. Now he is a relaxed (but very energetic) boy that is ready to play, run, hike and be someone’s best friend.
Bentley (Donovan) was recently pulled from a Riverside County Shelter less than 30 min before he was scheduled to be euthanized due to space. This little dude is great with other dogs, a bit traumatized by the recent events in his life but he is coming around and realizing that the hard times are a thing of the past.
**UPDATE! Archer (Bentley) was adopted by a very nice family. He has a dog brother named Bundi and everyone is getting along great.
Trouble has been adopted by his foster family! They could not part with him after having him for so long and seeing what a great cat he is. He also has a BFF, Lucky the cat who would be miserable without his buddy.
Trouble was rescued from the streets of Los Angeles. He was bottle fed at a very young age and he is tame, friendly and a great indoor kitten.
1 month old Chi-terrier mix, female. Clara and her family are safe and doing great. They were taken from a hoarder in the desert and ended up in the shelter. Thanks to the rescue coordinator at the shelter she got the word out fast and expressed the urgency of the situation. We quickly committed to take the family. Mom has the nicest disposition and I am sure the puppies will follow in her footsteps.
Buddy broke my heart. I was volunteering with the tabling program at SLA shelter last week and a woman came in crying with Buddy. He was scared beyond belief. His eyes were popping out of his head and he was shaking uncontrollably. Very familiar story…they moved to a place where animals were not allowed. Buddy was originally adopted from SLA by this woman and she was heartbroken to do this to him. With the financial assistance of Shorty’s Rescue we were able to put him in boarding for short term while we find a foster and rehome this sweet boy. He’s great with dogs, cats, kids and is a mellow good boy. He’s approx 2 1/2, corgi mix.
***UPDATE!!! Buddy, now Charlie, is in his forever home with a dog brother and a dog sister. Thank you Katie & Stephen! XO
Simon has been through so much at such a young age. He was found abandoned at a local park. He was taken to the shelter in the hopes that his family would claim him but it never happened. We pulled him from West Valley Shelter and he extremely sick! He caught a bad case of kennel cough and he contracted Distemper! Poor baby has been with us for over 2 months and we are just now able to say he is healthy and ready for his forever home. He is putting weight back on and he is thriving in his loving foster home. Don’t let his size fool you, this little dude would give his life for his family. He’s great with dogs, cats & loves kids.
Ian is a handsome ivory kitten. Him and his sister Iris are patiently waiting for their forever home. Their brother & sister were adopted together and they are doing great. They are approximately 4 months old. Their father is a huge tomcat that was trapped, neutered and relocated to a wonderful ranch in Malibu Canyon. None of them will ever see the streets of South Los Angeles again.
Binkie is a 6 month old female Chihuahua. She is great with other dogs, cats and kids. She is a total character and will make you laugh when you watch her play with her dog toys. We met this little girl in front of a local shelter. Luckily we caught her before she was surrendered to the shelter. The woman said that her husband would not let her keep her.
