Gigi’s mom is so devoted to her and will do whatever she can to ensure Gigi never ends up back in the shelter system. Gigi’s mom recently lost her home and her job leaving them no other option but to live in their car together. Gigi’s mom could go to a woman’s shelter but she will not give up on Gigi. She is determined to stick it out with her dog until she can find a better home for her. She originally pulled Gigi from a local shelter when she was under a year old. Now that Gigi is around 7 years old and is not good with other animals her mom knows that she is most likely going into the animal shelter and never coming out alive.

It’s so heart wrenching to see the love these two have for each other and to know that they love each other unconditionally.

Gigi is around 7 years old, healthy, spayed and we can get her current on her vaccines before she goes into a new home.

Hunter is a young neutered male. Good with other dogs, very well mannered. He is very active and would make a great exercise partner for someone that likes to jog, run or bike. He is crate trained and walks good on a leash. This dog is amazing! I know I always say that but I only say it when it’s TRUE! He was rescued from the streets of South LA and he is very appreciative. He is a handsome boy who is looking for a place to call home. I am guessing at his mix. He has such regal looking features, I see the Weimaraner structure in his face. But whatever the mix is, he is handsome!

I say that he is not good with cats only because we have no idea at this point. He loves to chase squirrels but that doesn’t make him anti-cat. It would probably depend on the cat too.

We do feel that it is best that Hunter not go to a home with small children. Teenagers would be fine. He does get very excited and he needs his exercise.

Bruno was found running in the streets of Los Angeles. He was dirty, scared, hungry and exhausted. Luckily a volunteer got him cornered so we could catch him. He has suffered some emotional trauma and is still working on getting over his fear of men and people touching his collar/neck area. He is healthy, very loving once he gets to know you and he is playful. He is crate trained and sleeps through the night.

He needs a home that is willing to be patient with him and help him rebuild his trust.

The two black kittens shown here were recently found in a parking lot at Kahoot’s Feed Store in Chatsworth. Luckily the staff know us very well and have us on speed dial. We are now bottle feeding these two little kitties and they will be available for adoption once they are weaned off the bottle. One male and one female. They are between 3-4 weeks old now.

Please note that we often have bottle babies, young kittens and adult cats. We also have ferals that would make great barn cats, mousers, gopher hunters, etc… If you or anyone you know is interested in adopting a cat or kitten please call us and we can give you more details on who we have available.

Coco is about 3 lbs. She is your typical Chihuahua, she has more attitude that body weight.

She is very sweet, great with other dogs, great with cats and crate trained. She is about 10-11 months old, spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped.

Coco came to us recently because her previous owner was forced to move into a relative’s home and she was not allowed to bring her animals with her. We had met this woman a few months back in front of South LA Shelter where she was going to surrender Binky (Coco’s sibling). Luckily we intercepted and Binky never entered the shelter. Binky is now in a wonderful home with her dog sister Rosie. Back to the story, Coco was shelter bound if we didn’t take her in. We are grateful that the woman kept our card and contacted us as soon as she found out she needed to place her dogs. Yes, dogs, there is another one we got from her. His name is Weezer.

I know the story is a bit choppy but that’s just how it is sometimes. We do our best to get all of the details but sometimes you just have to work with what you’ve got.

If you are interested in a teacup, Coco is your girl. She is not nervous and jittery, she is tiny and confident. The perfect little package.

They are a bonded pair and it would be wonderful to see them adopted together. They started this roller coaster journey together so they do find comfort in each other.

They are both about a year old, at most. Both are very tiny, Arnold is around 7 lbs. and Dinky is at least a pound or two less.

They are both neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and ready for a forever home.

We believe she is a Spaniel mix, about a year old, healthy, and weighs about 16 lbs.

She is now done with nursing her pups and is available for adoption.

Sometimes we get dogs that have so much personality that they end up with multiple names. Licorice is one of those pups. She is cute, sweet, mellow, funny, playful, tender, young, unique looking and the list goes on. This is why she has many names. Everyone she meets wants to call her something different. We are sticking with Licorice for her official name until she gets her own family, then they can name her whatever they decide.

Licorice was found wandering the streets of Southgate…not the most desirable area, especially if you are a lost dog. The nice people that found her put up signs and contacted the local shelter but nobody stepped up to claim Licorice. She may have been dumped or lost. Either way, she was grateful for a warm bed, clean water and good food. She is about 8 months old, breed is unknown, she is about 20 lbs. and does not appear to be growing in size. She is great with other dogs, good in the house – using a doggy door, fine with cats (might depend on the cat), no aggression with food or treats and loves everyone.

Angelo is a 7 year old Quarterhorse. He is great under saddle. Healthy and well mannered. Contact Glora (our horse expert) at 818-523-4945 for more info.

Daisy & Sparky (formerly Rascal) are about 4 months old, terrier mixes, Daisy is a girl, Sparky is a boy. They were rescued from a backyard breeder in South LA. They have had their first set of puppy shots, dewormer, flea treatment and are ready for a forever home. When they are old enough we will need to arrange for them to be spayed/neutered and we can do the micro-chip implant at that time too.

Chloe and Charlie were recently pulled out of Baldwin Park Shelter. They were brought in by their “owner” and we have no idea why. Chloe & Charlie are amazing! They are great with other dogs & cats. They are good in the house, good in the car and crate trained too! No food aggression, play well with others and show some signs of basic obedience.

Chloe is about a year old, at most. We think she is an American Bulldog.
Charlie is just over a year, a couple of months older than Chloe. We think he is a Chihuahua mix.
Both are fixed, vaccinated and chipped.

Chloe was labeled “rescue only” in the shelter because she was so frozen with fear. She would try to hide behind Charlie and would put up a struggle if they tried to separate them. She did not show any aggression but she would not budge from the kennel unless Charlie went first. Now they are settled in their foster home and they are running & playing with the other dogs without a care in the world.

Being that they were so dependent on each other and they obviously lived together in the past, we are hoping to adopt them together. It might be too stressful for Chloe to be without her Guardian.

Gurdie came to us because her original owner was having a hard time and was not able to provide the proper care for her. Gurdie had been passed to a friend of his while he was dealing with a difficult personal issue. Now Gurdie is with us. She is playful and very affectionate. Poor Omie has had a turbulent life. He was adopted from a rescue group to a woman and her fiance. They broke up, woman kept the dog but didn’t give him any time. He had some behavioral issues so she sent him to several “trainers” but things were still not going smoothly for her and Omie. I never met the woman or the dog, but from what I do know, there was probably a lot of emotional baggage from the woman that was transferring to the dog. Omie was sent to live with the woman’s mother who has a St. Bernard that Omie does not get along with. Omie is very tense and confused. The woman who adopted him as a puppy has now moved out of state and he is left with his adopted grandmother who has a very busy schedule and means well but does not have any time for Omnie. This poor dog needs somewhere to plant some roots! He is playful, great on a leash and desperate for some stability. Rascal is a young, playful, loving Cairn Terrier mix. His is neutered, chipped and current on his vaccines. He is good with other dogs and loves to sit in your lap. He is a stocky, strong little man with a lot of personality.

Leo is about a year old. Tri-colored Chihuahua/Terrier mix and has a slight over-bite on the side of his mouth that gives him even more character.

Darla came to us with her 3 female pups. She is a Staffie mix, about 2 years old, healthy, very social, loves other dogs & people, has been great around other animals at the ranch where she is being fostered.

She loves to go for car rides, walks great on a leash, is very polite when meeting other dogs and is gentle with small dogs. Her playmate is a teacup Chihuahua.

He was brought into the shelter as a stray but he had a chip so they listed him as “Possible Owner” but nobody came to claim him. He caught the attention of a fellow rescuer who has a passion for huge & misunderstood dogs. She made it her mission to network G Jack and do her best to get him out of the shelter alive.

He is currently 100lbs but he is under weight. He is great in the car, romps around the yard like an oversized bunny, good with little dogs, doesn’t seem to show interest in cats, not a barker, has a nice howl when coyotes or sirens inspire him and he is starting to come out of his shell and ask for affection.

**I marked “needs experienced adopter” because G Jack is big and extremely strong. We do not know his history so we can only give the information based on what we have seen first hand. He needs an experienced owner that is familiar with strong bully breeds. We choose to be cautious because we do not want to set any of our dogs up to fail. Baby G is a 3 month old purebred German Shepherd, female, healthy, great with other dogs, also being exposed to cats, we are working on crate training, she sleeps through the night in the crate. She has had her first set of puppy shots and deworming.

We do not have any “papers” on her to show she is pure GSD but we saw the parents and they are pure GSDs.

We are asking for a $250 adoption fee for her (if you cover the cost of the spay when she is old enough) otherwise, we can cover it and the adoption fee will be $350. We have several low cost clinics that we can refer you to.

Mojo is a Bedlington Terrier mix. He is about a year old, under 10 lbs, neutered, current on vaccines, great with other dogs and loves everyone. He is a great dog! Mellow and at the same time playful. He was with an elderly couple that were unable to care for themselves so they realized that it was in the dog’s best interest that he be rehomed. Dino was found as a tiny pup on the streets. He is now healthy, happy and a ball of energy. He is about 9 months, neutered, loving and wanting to be friends with anyone he sees. Dino, like most PBT needs mental and physical exercise to stay balanced. If you are looking for a new best friend, someone to love you unconditionally, someone to say “hey, get off the couch and let’s go for a hike!” he is your guy.

Kate (formerly Miss Guiness) is the perfect GSD. She is about 2 1/2 years old, very mellow, great on the leash, likes other dogs, loves to play fetch. She was living with an elderly couple that were not able to give her the attention and exercise that she desired so they traded her for a smaller,older dog. Kate deserves to have the stability and love that she is willing to give in return. If you are familiar with the breed you know that GSD are guardians & best friends all in one. The total package.

Lucy was found as a stray with her 3 puppies. Unfortunately, one of the pups didn’t make it. But her two babies shown here are healthy and doing great! Lucy is about 2-3 years old at the most. She is very scared but since coming out of the shelter she is calming down and taking it slow. Teddy is the black & white pup. He is a big eater, loves to play and is the trouble maker of the two. Chip is the brown pup and he is the runt. He is mellow and a little more reserved than Teddy. He is sweet and loving. The pups are still nursing but will be weaned off mom in the next week or two. Lucy seems to be a Chi mix and the pups are Chi/terrier mix.

Bianca was found on the streets of Los Angeles hungry, pregnant, dirty and scared. Luckily a friend of LAAR.org was able to catch her and get her to us. Bianca was not ready to be a teen mom so we helped her out and now she is enjoying her new dog friends and her foster family. She is very sweet and great with other dogs. She enjoys chasing squirrels and playing tag.

**UPDATE! Archer (Bentley) was adopted by a very nice family. He has a dog brother named Bundi and everyone is getting along great.

Trouble was rescued from the streets of Los Angeles. He was bottle fed at a very young age and he is tame, friendly and a great indoor kitten.

1 month old Chi-terrier mix, female.  Clara and her family are safe and doing great.  They were taken from a hoarder in the desert and ended up in the shelter.  Thanks to the rescue coordinator at the shelter she got the word out fast and expressed the urgency of the situation.  We quickly committed to take the family.  Mom has the nicest disposition and I am sure the puppies will follow in her footsteps.
